There are a variety of Ram 1500 trim levels and even more packages. Having so many options can be great but it can also be overwhelming. The easiest way to think about Ram trims is to start with the features/options that matter most to you. The “must-haves” if you will.
Leather interiors and temperature seats are some of the features people want the most. We don’t recommend buying a higher trim just to get one or two features. If you just want leather heated and ventilated seats, you can save thousands by purchasing a lower trim, such as the Big Horn, and add those features. If you do this, you get to customize your interior much more than if you simply got the OEM seats.
A lot of our customers purchase higher trim levels, like the Laramie, because they want a sunroof and still have us customize their interior.
Below is a brief overview of the Ram 1500 trim levels and the various features included in each one. Keep in mind that we aren’t saying every single option each trim level includes. The goal of this page is to help you understand which trim levels come with the features most people want and how you can save money by purchasing a lower trim level and simply adding the features you really want. We can replace cloth or leather seats with a variety of different product options. Even if your truck already comes with leather from the manufacturer, we can replace it with high-quality, custom leather, chosen by you.
This is the base trim of the Ram 1500. This is the Ram work truck. It comes standard with a 3.6L V6 engine, 8-speed automatic transmission, 18×7.5-inch painted steel wheels, BSW all-season tires, six-passenger seating, 5-inch Uconnect 3 display, and cloth seats. The Tradesman does not come with a leather interior or temperature seat controls.
The Big Horn trim is one of the trims Ram sells the most. Part of that is its lower price point while also coming with the majority of features most truck buyers want. It comes with deluxe cloth seats, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, power heated mirrors with fold away, auto-dimming exterior driver mirror, Uconnect 3 5-inch touchscreen display but you can upgrade to Uconnect 4 8.4-inch if you’d like, and more. It should be noted that the Big Horn does NOT HAVE LEATHER SEATS or ventilated seats.
The Laramie is the least expensive Ram 1500 trim level that comes with leather seats from the manufacturer. Purchasing the Laramie instead of a Big Horn will cost you an additional $4,000 or more. It also comes with heated front seats, a power tailgate, Uconnect 4 with an 8.4-inch touchscreen display, automatic high-beam headlamp control, blindspot and cross path detection, rain-sensing windshield wipers, an optional sunroof, and more. It does not come with ventilated seats.
The Rebel is an incredible off-road truck with luxury leather seats, an available 12-inch Uconnect display, 18×8-inch painted mid-gloss black wheels, OWL all-terrain tires, two-tone paint, 3.92 rear-axle ratio, the 3.6L V6 eTorque engine, an optional dual-panel panoramic sunroof, and a whole lot more for your off-road adventures.
This trim level comes with premium leather seats, heated and ventilated front and rear seats, power running boards, Uconnect 4C NAV 8.4-inch display with an available 12-inch display, 20×9-inch aluminum painted/polished wheels, black/new saddle interior, and more. However, keep in mind that you can customize your truck’s interior exactly the way you want with Katzkin as well.
The Ram 1500 Limited trim level is right near the top when it comes to Ram 1500 trim levels. It comes standard with the 5.7L V8 Hemi engine, premium leather seats, heated and ventilated front and rear seats, parallel and perpendicular park-assist, 20×9-inch polished wheels with inserts, available pedestrian emergency available braking, BSW all-season tires, surround-view camera, and much more.
The Ram 1500 TRX is a complete animal! Its 6.2L Supercharged Hemi V8 SRT engine alone makes it worthy of being called a beast but it has a lot more than that. It also comes with a 3.55 rear axle ratio, 18×9-inch polish black aluminum wheels, all-terrain tires, a Uconnect 12-inch display with navigation, a heated steering wheel, heated and ventilated front and rear seats, and more! Keep in mind that leather is NOT STANDARD on the TRX trim. Instead, it comes with cloth/vinyl seats. There’s a whole host of reasons to choose Katzkin for your truck’s leather interior. For instance, if having leather seats is the only reason you want a higher trim level such as a lariat, you can easily save more than $4,000 by purchasing a Big Horn instead and adding Katzkin leather to it. You can save even more money, around $8,000 by doing the same thing with the Tradesman trim.
A lot of our customers tell us that they prefer Katzkin leather over OEM seats because they get to choose from a huge variety of designs without sacrificing quality. We can make your seats as custom as you’d like. With more than 120 different colors, materials, and designs to choose from, it’s almost impossible not to find the design you’re looking for. But, if you can’t, you’re also more than welcome to design your own seats and we’ll make them for you. This is one of the reasons we replace OEM leather with Katzkin so much of the time.Choose Your Design
If you want heated and ventilated seats added to your truck, we can do that with our Degreez package. We can add up to three levels of heat and three levels of ventilation to your seats. Most people that purchase a Ram 1500, get the Big Horn, which rarely comes with ventilated seats. You usually have to purchase at least the lariat trim to get those from the manufacture. Instead of paying for all the extras you don’t care about, just buy the Tradesman or Big Horn and let us add custom temperature and leather seats to your truck.
Most of the Rams we work on, and we work on a lot, are brand new. If you’re like most of our customers, you’ll purchase your new truck and take it to a Katzkin installer to get new custom leather added. But we frequently work on older trucks too. In fact, we can install leather on F-150s as old as the 90s. Also, it doesn’t matter if you have a single cab, quad cab, or crew cab, we’ve worked on every cab style and can add leather to yours.
Approximately 25% of people, or one out of four, in the US, lease their vehicles. Leasing can be nice because it gives you a lower monthly payment and if you have a business, you can easily write it off on your taxes.
When leasing, if you want to add additional features such as bigger wheels, rhino liner in the bed, etc., you have to pay for those items over the course of the lease. For example, if you want custom rims and tires to go with your new truck, and they cost $2,500, you either have to pay $2,000 upfront or add it to your monthly payment. If it’s a 36-month lease, it’ll cost you an extra $69.44 every month on your lease.
The beauty of Katzkin is that they can residualized on your lease. That’s a fancy way of saying you won’t have to pay the entire cost of the seats over the course of the lease. After all, you’re not BUYING the seats, you’re just adding them to your lease. This can cut down the cost of your lease significantly and save you money!
It’s also worth noting that most people lease the Big Horn trim level and that doesn’t come with leather seats. So this is an inexpensive way to add them!
There are benefits galore to getting your leather seats from Katzkin.
