There are several different Ford F-150 trim levels and dozens more “packages” with a huge variety of options. Some of the packages are sport, FX4, STX, and many more. With so many options and trim levels to choose from, it can be confusing to know which one is best for you. Our recommendation is to decide what options and features are most important to you and focus on those.
One of the most common features many people want in their F-150 is a leather interior. Simply put, you would have to purchase at least the Lariat trim in order for your truck to come with leather from the manufacturer. But if leather or temperature seats are the most important features for you, we recommend getting an XL or XLT and adding Katzkin leather. These are the two least expensive trims but come with most of the features people care about. You’ll save thousands of dollars by adding leather to a truck with a lower trim. But if you really want a truck with a sunroof, you’ll have to purchase a Lariat or higher.
Here’s a quick break down of the different F-150 trim levels and what each one includes. This is not a comprehensive list of every feature included on all of the trims. Instead, we’re showing you some of the most commonly asked about features. We can replace cloth or leather seats with a variety of different product options. Even if your truck already comes with leather from the manufacturer, we can replace it with high-quality, custom leather, chosen by you.
This is the base level trim that’s often used for work trucks. However, XL trim with the STX package comes with upgraded rims, Android Auto, Apple Carplay, a bigger display screen, cloth seats, and a few more options. The STX package is perfect for people who are looking to spend less on the truck but get some of the nicer technology and upgrades.
Ford sells more F-150 XLTs than any other trim level and it’s not even close. Most of the XLT packages include Apple Carplay, Android Auto, heated seats, power seats, the 5.3-inch display, a rear window that opens partially, and black cloth seats. Ford does NOT include leather seats on any of the XLT packages. Depending on the package, the XLT might have a remote start as well.
The Lariat is the lowest priced trim level that comes with leather from the manufacturer and heated and ventilated seats. In addition to the features mentioned above, it also comes with a sunroof and a 12-inch display.
This trim comes with leather seats with the King Ranch design, a B&O sound system, dual-zone automatic temperature control, adaptive cruise control, and more.
The Platinum trim comes with 20-inch aluminum rims, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, leather seats, a 12-inch display, and more.
The Limited has Pro-Power Onboard which turns your truck into a generator, leather seats, a 360-degree camera package, power-deployable running boards, heated and ventilated seats, and more.
The Raptor is in a class of its own. This truck is an off-road beast with Trail Control, Off-Road Fox Racing Live Valve, Tailgate LED, and more. Keep in mind that this truck does not come standard with leather seats.Choose Your Design
There’s a whole host of reasons to choose Katzkin for your truck’s leather interior. For instance, if having leather seats is the only reason you want a higher trim level such as a lariat, you can easily save more than $5,000 by purchasing an XLT instead and adding Katzkin leather to it.
A lot of our customers tell us that they prefer Katzkin leather over OEM seats because they get to choose from a huge variety of designs without sacrificing quality. We can make your seats as custom as you’d like. With more than 120 different colors, materials, and designs to choose from, it’s almost impossible not to find the design you’re looking for. But, if you can’t, you’re also more than welcome to design your own seats and we’ll make them for you. This is one of the reasons we replace OEM leather with Katzkin so much of the time.Choose Your Design
If you want heated and ventilated seats added to your truck, we can do that with our Degreez package. We can add up to three levels of heat and three levels of ventilation to your seats. Most people that purchase an F-150, get the XLT which rarely comes with ventilated seats. You usually have to purchase at least the lariat trim to get those from the manufacture. Instead of paying for all the extras you don’t care about, just buy the XL or XLT and let us add custom temperature and leather seats to your truck.
Most of the F-150s we work on, and we work on a lot, are brand new. If you’re like most of our customers, you’ll purchase your new truck and take it to a Katzkin installer to get new custom leather added. But we frequently work on older trucks too. In fact, we can install leather on F-150s as old as 2003. Also, it doesn’t matter if you have a super crew, single cab, or super cab, we’ve worked on every cab style and can add leather to yours.
Approximately 25% of people, or one out of four, in the US, lease their vehicles. Leasing can be nice because it gives you a lower monthly payment and if you have a business, you can easily write it off on your taxes.
When leasing, if you want to add additional features such as bigger wheels, rhino liner in the bed, etc., you have to pay for those items over the course of the lease. For example, if you want custom rims and tires to go with your new truck, and they cost $2,500, you either have to pay $2,000 upfront or add it to your monthly payment. If it’s a 36-month lease, it’ll cost you an extra $69.44 every month on your lease.
The beauty of Katzkin is that they can residualized on your lease. That’s a fancy way of saying you won’t have to pay the entire cost of the seats over the course of the lease. After all, you’re not BUYING the seats, you’re just adding them to your lease. This can cut down the cost of your lease significantly and save you money!
It’s also worth noting that most people lease the XLT trim level and that doesn’t come with leather seats. So this is an inexpensive way to add them!
